When to Register

Registration dates are published for each term by student level. Looking for a future term? Registration dates for upcoming fall semesters are typically published in late February. Registration dates for upcoming spring semesters are typically published in late September.

Spring 2026

Most students at W&M register for courses via PATH. Undergraduate students with questions about registration should contact the [[registrar,Office of the University Registrar]].

Graduate students with questions about registration should contact the Graduate Registrar or the Academic Administration office for their school/program.

Students may be registered in up to 16 credits maximum

Registration will open in social class order, beginning with social class seniors
- Social Class 2026 opens at 7:00 a.m.
- Social Class 2027 opens at 8:00 a.m.
- Social Class 2028 opens at 3:00 p.m.
- Social Class 2029 opens at 4:00 p.m.
Major restrictions will be enforced until 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11
Students will be limited to five total waitlist registrations
Social class 2026 may register for up to 18 credit hours starting November 10. All other social classes may register for up to 16 credit hours until the start of the spring semester

If you receive an override from an instructor, you must add the class before midnight, Friday, January 30. You can view posted overrides in "Prepare for Registration" in Banner Self-Service. Please note that instructors cannot register you for classes. Instructor overrides do not override time conflicts or course capacity.

The pass/fail election form will open for social class juniors and seniors on Monday, February 2. The election form will remain open through the withdrawal period. (Start date is subject to change.)
