As provost, Peggy Agouris is the chief academic officer of William & Mary. The provost, in accordance with policies established by the Board of Visitors, is responsible for all academic and research programs, academic budgets, institutional planning, space allocation and faculty development.

The provost's leadership team is composed of the deans of William & Mary's six schools and university libraries; the senior vice provost for academic affairs; the vice provosts for research and enrollment strategy; the associate provost for faculty affairs and development; the associate provost and university registrar; the associate provost for international affairs; and the ombuds team.
