Study in D.C. Day is September 9th! The Washington Center team will be on campus, hosting pop-ups with free food, merch, program info, and quick advising — plus an evening Information Session on applied learning opportunities in D.C.

Info Session (RSVP)

The W&M Washington Center offers high-impact applied learning opportunities for students in all majors. Among the diverse topics offered are government, policy, art, business, education and more. Since its inception, the Center has grown to become W&M’s Campus in the City, running academic programs in our nation's capital for 450+ undergraduate students year-round, with a robust scholarship fund to support them.

Internship-Bearing Programs

The Washington Center offers three internship-bearing programs, all accompanied by the support of the Center team and the connections in the W&M network! Students will receive individualized support in applying, securing, and succeeding in an internship, and structured programming for professional development and interdisciplinary courses.

  • D.C. Semester Program

    D.C.'s original applied learning program! Students spend a full semester interning and earning W&M credit.

  • D.C. Summer Institutes

    Spend your summer in D.C.! Participate in a summer internship and complete coursework in a thematic area.

  • Global Scholars

    A year-long global policy and international affairs program with cohort-specific social and academic activities.

Accelerated Programs

The Washington Center offers three accelerated programs, designed to give students a taste of living and working in the nation's capital. 

  • D.C. Winter Seminars

    Test drive life in D.C. by participating in one 3-credit seminar over your winter break!

  • D.C. Summer Session

    Take a five-week hybrid course with mostly online coursework and one in-person week.

  • Verified

    Engage in a week-long summer program designed to give students hands-on professional experience.
