The Ewell Concert Series Presents Stephanie Nakasian

Stephanie NakasianThis tribute to Billie Holiday features music from Stephanie Nakasian’s new recording, “Billie Remembered” (Classic Jazz). Hailed as “one of the important jazz singers in the world today” (New Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz) Ms. Nakasian has appeared at the Kool Jazz Festival (NYC), the Northsea Jazz Festival (Holland), the Telluride Jazz Cel­ebration (CO), and the Women in Jazz Festival at Lincoln Center (NYC). She has performed with such renowned musicians as Clark Terry, Pat Metheny, and Bobby McFerrin, and sung on television and radio in the United States, Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. Ms. Nakasian, a member of the William and Mary Performing Artist Faculty, has been lauded for her “vocal virtuosity” (The New York Times) . Her CD, “I Love You” (Spice of Life), was released in Japan to rave reviews, and Ms. Nakasian was acclaimed “the perfect jazz singer” (Swing Journal).

The concert will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 8:00pm in the Williamsburg Library Theatre. Admission is free.
