David Finifter to Retire

Professor David Finifter has decided to take phased retirement, effective at the end of this academic year. David has been struggling with medical issues for several years, and over the last couple of years it has become difficult for him to maintain a full schedule. David technically will retire at the end of the academic year but, fortunately, he will continue teaching one class a year, the Policy Research Seminar in the MPP program. He also will be available to supervise selected independent studies in economics and public policy. He will continue to have an office in Morton Hall and will remain active in research. David was founding director of the Thomas Jefferson Program in Public Policy for thirteen years. I know I am speaking for the whole department when I wish him well and we are glad that he will remain involved.
