Student Insurance Continuation Privilege

All insured students who have been continuously insured under the school's policy for at least three consecutive months and who no longer meet the Eligibility requirements under that policy due to a change in student status (i.e. graduated, withdrawn, changed from full-time to part-time) are eligible to continue their coverage under the W&M-sponsored Student Insurance Plan for a period of not more than 6 months in accordance with the current policy provisions. Students on Continuation coverage are not required to obtain a Student Health Center (SHC) Referral for benefits to be considered under the plan for covered medical expenses incurred in the Williamsburg area.

These students are eligible to continue their coverage for a period of not more than 6 months under the school's policy in effect at the time of such continuation. The 2026-2027 Continuation coverage monthly premium is $302.67. If you are eligible for continuation at the beginning of the next policy year, you must purchase coverage under the new policy as chosen by the school. Coverage under the new policy is subject to the coverage dates, rates and benefits selected by the school for that policy year. The Fall 2026 Continuation Enrollment Form will be available online on or around 07/01/2026. To purchase the Fall 2026 Continuation coverage simply login to your UHCSR MyAccount (or use the free mobile app) to access the link under the My Coverage tab.

The 2026-2027 online Continuation Enrollment form and premium payment is submitted directly to UnitedHealthcare StudentResources and must be received within 31 days after the expiration of your regular student coverage. If you are uncertain how many months of Continuation coverage you require, we recommend purchasing this coverage conservatively one to two months at a time because you cannot obtain a refund if you purchase more than you need.
