William & Mary's GHG emissions steadily decreased from 2016 to 2020. However, in 2021, emissions increased slightly before decreasing again by 2022. Despite major changes in the gross square footage (GSF) of both campuses from 2016 to 2022, William & Mary emissions decreased overall. The main campus grew from 3,811,010 GSF in 2016 to 4,542,712 GSF in 2022, and VIMS increased from 326,544 GSF in 2016 to 382,554 GSF in 2022. Although the student population has grown since 2021, MTCDE per student decreased as overall GHG emissions decreased.
