Student Involvement
William & Mary’s history gives us a unique perspective on the importance and meaning of leadership and civic engagement in a democracy. Often referred to as the “Alma Mater of the Nation,” we are in the unique position to be a national model for civic leadership.
The William & Mary vision statement implores us to cultivate the development of the next great leaders. It reads:
William & Mary redefines the academic community: building on more than 300 years of innovation and excellence, we break the boundaries between teaching and research, student and instructor, living, and learning. People come to William & Mary wanting to change the world – and we do.
Fortunately, you have several years to explore all of the various ways you can get involved at William & Mary! No decisions have to be made overnight and no resume of experiences is created in your first semester. So take your time. Explore events happening across campus. Be curious about what motivates you. Identify your values. Hone in on your passions. Pursue them heartily.
Consider These Involvement Possibilities ...

Civic & Community EngagementMany of the opportunities coordinated by the Civic and Community Engagement are partnerships with non-profit and civic organizations across the region. Religious & Spiritual ResourcesCampus Ministries United (CMU) is a multi-faith coalition of spiritual leaders affiliated with campus religious groups at William & Mary.
