Science & Research

Faculty in the natural sciences, life sciences, mathematics, and technology have access to a broad range of external funding through OSP's Sciences A-Z resource directory. Key federal sponsors include the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), NASA, the Department of Energy (DOE), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and DARPA. Virginia-specific programs such as the Jeffress Memorial Trust, the Commonwealth Health Research Board, and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium offer additional support for faculty pursuing regionally focused work.

Private foundations including the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, and the American Chemical Society's Petroleum Research Fund provide further opportunities across chemistry, physics, mathematics, and the life sciences.

OSP's weekly funding opportunities list is regularly updated with open solicitations, and faculty are encouraged to contact their OSP Sponsored Programs Administrator early to allow adequate time for proposal development and review.

Browse each faculty funding section, or use Command (⌘) + F on Mac devices or Ctrl + F on PC devices to search for specific keywords on each page.

Interested applicants should contact their OSP Administrator as early as possible.
