About Zahra
Zahra, originally from Afghanistan, is a sophomore at William & Mary majoring in Government. She is passionate about public policy, advocacy, and using storytelling through film and documentaries to highlight underrepresented voices and bring attention to important societal issues. On campus, Zahra is actively involved as a Student Ambassador for the Center for Inclusive Excellence, a Research Assistant at AidData, a Posse Foundation Scholar Ambassador, an intern with the Society of 1918, and serves as Vice President of the Afghan Student Association, among other activities.
Zahra joined the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB) because her personal experiences inspire her to support international students and foster a culturally rich campus community. She is dedicated to advocating for their needs, elevating their voices, and helping them feel fully included and valued on campus.
She hopes to contribute to initiatives that foster community engagement, promote cross-cultural understanding, and strengthen connections across William & Mary, helping to create a campus where international students are welcomed, celebrated, and truly belong.
