About Pankaj

I'm Pankaj Niroula, a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at William & Mary, originally from Kathmandu, Nepal. My research focuses on computer systems security, with a particular emphasis on developing robust end-user privacy guarantees. Beyond academia, I enjoy theatrical plays and social dance, practice mindfulness, and advocate for prioritizing mental health and environmental sustainability. I actively contribute to community building through my involvement in campus organizations and Williamsburg local interest groups.

The transition from Nepal to the United States for my graduate studies was an eventful journey, and the International Students & Scholars Program (ISSP) helped make this adjustment period smoother through their comprehensive programs and resources. Their assistance has been instrumental in my academic journey, and this experience has inspired me to serve on the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB). In this role, I aim to expand the reach of ISSP's programs, ensuring that incoming international students receive the support needed for a successful transition and academic experience.

As an ISAB board member, I strive to be an effective liaison between our international student community and the ISSP team. My goal is to amplify student voices and ensure their perspectives shape ISSP's initiatives and programming. Through collaboration with fellow board members, I’m committed to enhancing the international student experience at William & Mary and fostering an inclusive, supportive academic environment.

Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect or share your own experiences - I'd love to hear from you.
