This information is intended as a guide for supervisors and administrators hiring non-immigrant employees, including international students, scholars, staff, and faculty. Non-immigrants are people who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents ("green card holders").

New international hires must:

  • Apply for a Social Security Number (SSN), if they don't have one.
