W&M Summer Faculty-Led Programs

Why participate on a W&M faculty-led summer program?

  • It's a Unique Study Abroad Experience
    • W&M Faculty-led programs provide an opportunity for international engagement and understanding. These programs aim to create communities where global leaders are built through intentional experiential learning and activities.
  • W&M Faculty Led
    • Courses are taught by W&M faculty and/or faculty from partner institutions.
  • W&M Credits and Grades
    • W&M credits and grades earned are posted on the William & Mary transcript, with the exception of Galway which will earn both W&M and transfer credit.
    • All programs fulfill the COLL 300 requirement
  • W&M Support
    • The W&M Program Directors, Reves Center, and partner institutions work together to provide support to W&M students before and while abroad.
    • Program Directors on programs receive specialized training from GEO and Reves Center staff, along with other W&M offices.
  • W&M Experiential Learning
    • Programs designed to connect students to the host culture by academically engaging students inside and outside of the classroom.
    • Each program connects the W&M courses to the study abroad location.

Third Party Summer Programs

Some students opt to go on a Third Party program during the summer. These programs are often popular with students looking for experiences in locations where W&M does not currently offer direct programming. These types of programs cover a vast array of experiences. Students should visit the Third Party Programs page for more information.

W&M Summer Faculty-Led Programs

Each summer, W&M faculty direct short-term study abroad programs administered by the Global Education Office (GEO) in the Reves Center. Program locations and themes may vary from year to year. Programs include a 1 credit pre-course that will take place during the spring semester after Spring Break. The abroad course(s) will take place in the program location(s) during Summer Sessions. Both the 1-credit pre-course and the course(s) abroad must be completed in order to receive COLL 300 and students will receive W&M credits. All courses must be taken for a grade, which will be calculated into their GPA.
