529 Plans & Study Abroad

Use of 529 plans, and payment plans in general, may be limited by study abroad program and plan type. Please contact bursar@wm.edu for information regarding Virginia Prepaid529, and your plan's administrator for other plans (e.g. Invest529), as soon as possible regarding available payment options for this program.

Contact the administrator for your 529 account or other such program during your initial program research process, to confirm which funds can be used, how they can be used, and with what reductions or penalties (if any) may occur when using it for your study abroad program. In some circumstances, there may be a reduced amount available for use on certain study abroad programs.
