Military Benefits
Military and Veteran Students
William & Mary appreciates the sacrifices that our active duty, veterans, reservists, national guard and military dependents make as they serve our country.
We are committed to helping our veterans, active duty servicemembers and their dependents successfully transition to the university.
If you don't find the help you need here, email us; and we'll be happy to assist you.
Priority Registration
William & Mary provides priority registration times to students who are active duty military, reservists, veterans (as defined by Virginia Code § 23-7.4 1), members of the Virginia National Guard, and members of the university’s Army ROTC Unit, provided that these students identify themselves as such on each semester’s personal information questionnaire.
Students who believe they should have priority registration should complete the personal information questionnaire via Banner Self-Service.
Credit Hour Residency Requirement
No degree will be granted by the university until the undergraduate applicant has completed a minimum of 60 credit hours in residence at the university. This period must include the last two full-time semesters in which credits counted toward the degree are earned. A minimum of 15 credit hours in the major and 9 credit hours in the minor must be taken in residence at the university.
Degree Evaluation & Audits
The DegreeWorks audit shows the requirements for your degree and whether or not they are complete. You should view your audit any time you are preparing for registration, advising, or a change in program of study.
The Office of W&M Military & Veteran Affairs
This office helps coordinate and support existing military and veteran programs across the university and forges connections with external partners across military commands, corporations, veteran executives, alumni, federal programs, and other universities. Learn more by visiting their website.
