Loaner Laptop Program
Overview
The Technology Support Center maintains a small inventory of laptop computers available for short term loan to faculty and staff at William & Mary. Loaners are intended to be used for university business and may be checked out for a maximum timeframe of 2 weeks. The laptops run Windows 11 operating system with the standard faculty/staff software package including Office 365.
How do I reserve a loaner laptop?
Call the Technology Support Center at 221-HELP to check on availability and reserve a loaner laptop.
Where do I pick up and return the loaner laptop?
The loaner laptops are available in Jones Hall, Room 201. A short check out form must be completed to check out the laptop. In addition to the check out form, you will have to log on to the laptop while connected to the William & Mary network to build your profile before it will work off campus.
How long can I keep a borrowed laptop?
To maintain maximum availability, we allow laptops to be checked out no longer than 2 weeks.
What happens if the laptop is stolen or damaged while I have it?
Your department will be responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing the laptop.
What happens if the laptop experiences a hardware failure while I have it?
Information Technology will be responsible for all repairs when the laptop is returned.
Can specialized software be installed on the loaner laptop?
Usually software is licensed by the individual computer and these computers are only licensed for the standard faculty/staff image. If you have specialized software and you will not violate your license agreement, you can install the software yourself.
