Objective

Create a climate that is supportive and respectful while valuing myriad perspectives and experiences and aligned with the university’s mission, vision and values

Strategies 2025

  1. Create a community where uncomfortable, meaningful dialogue is valued and practiced
  2. Educate the community on non-discriminatory practices and productive conflict-resolution
  3. Effectively address concerns and complaints, addressing bullying in the workplace
  4. Distinguish W&M Athletics in ways that are equitable, more financially sustainable, and that enhance the sense of belonging for all by uniting the campus during games and events
  5. Offer educational and celebratory events for students, faculty and staff, and the community that recognize, and honor diversity of viewpoints, experiences, and backgrounds

  4. Results of program evaluations designed to facilitate intergroup dialogue and trust: high praise from all constituencies for W&M Better Arguments via new student orientation, student leadership training, and employee professional development
