Biography

Alli Sabo is a human geographer and holds a PhD in Geography and a Graduate Certificate in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Florida and an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona. She has previously researched the social implications of hydropower development for riverine communities in the western Brazilian Amazon, worked with teams of researchers and conservation partners to better understand the governance of energy and transport infrastructure in the pan-Amazon region, and interrogated the green credentials of sustainable hydropower and carbon-offset dams.

At the IIC, she currently heads up the Integrative Conservation Clinic project, an open source and multidisciplinary online platform being designed with conservation experts and practitioners to increase the effectiveness of conservation practice. She is a  Professional Affiliate of the W&M Interdisciplinary Studies Program.
