Departments & Units

The Office of the Executive Vice President oversees the five units that shepherd the strategic stewardship of the university’s human, financial, physical and technological resources. Each unit is lead by an industry leader who sets the strategic vision of his or her area and supports a team through development and implementation.

Business Affairs

Business Affairs delivers key business functions in support of the university community. The unit comprises the offices of Facilities Operations, University Architect, Environmental Health & Safety, Auxiliary Services, Fiscal Operations, Supply Chain Services, University Real Estate and special projects. Business Affairs is helmed by Chief Business Officer Sean Hughes.

Compliance & Equity

Compliance & Equity ensures a compliant, ethical and equitable institutional environment. The office manages equity regulations, centralized compliance functions, such as Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Youth Protection, Conflict of Interest and Freedom of Expression under §23.1-401.1 of the Code of Virginia. Compliance & Equity is led by Chief Compliance Officer Pamela Mason, who also serves as the university FOIA Officer

Finance

Finance provides financial management in support of the university’s mission through transparent allocation of resources and seamless execution of financial transactions; chief functions include budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and internal control and tax compliance.
