Do I have to be in D.C. to enroll in this course?

No! This course is fully online so regardless of where you are geographically, you can enroll. 

Who can participate in the internship course?

Any student with a summer internship secured! If you are still searching for a summer internship, please use the resources at the Cohen Career Center.

Can I enroll if I plan to have an internship, but have not yet secured one?

We do not recommend enrolling if you do not yet have an internship. However, you are able to enroll in this course until the end of Add/Drop, June 12.

What is the course description?

The independent study provides students an opportunity to apply and expand knowledge from a structured learning experience. The student is assessed on a project that incorporates the hands-on experience of the internship but which also includes an analytic or research component, and a final, written report. The independent study draws on writing from across multiple disciplines and interdisciplinary approaches that are integrative and synergistic.

This course will be taught by Drew Stelljes, Ph.D '07 and Roxane Adler Hickey M.Ed. '02

Are there specific parameters for my internship?

Your internship can be in any field/sector but you do need to intern for at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of 6 weeks.

What are the course dates?

This course will run for the full length of both Summer Sessions: June 1- August 7.

How many credits is this course worth?

3 credits

How much does this course cost?

Summer tuition is billed on a per credit hour basis. For in-state students, the Summer 2020 rate is $425/credit hour and for out-of-state students, the Summer 2020 rate is $1,278/credit hour. There is also a one time registration fee of $25 and a one time comprehensive fee of $55 for all summer courses
