Program Fees

 

The program fee for D.C. Winter Seminars is $2,500, which will be charged to your student account.

  • A non-refundable $500 deposit is due October 31, 2024
  • The balance due of $2,000 will be billed on your  November W&M Student Accounts eStatement and is due December 1, 2024.
  • If you choose to live in housing provided by the W&M Washington Center , there is an additional non-refundable cost of $900** for a double room billed on your November W&M Student Accounts eStatement and due on December 1, 2024.
    • **Housing fee is subject to change based on market availability 
  • Students may also opt into daily lunch provided by the W&M Washington Center for $90.

*PLEASE NOTE: Students who wish to drop the class have until the drop deadline on 01/01/2025 at midnight to do so. If students drop by this deadline, the course fee will be removed, but students will forfeit their previously paid $500 deposit. Students who drop after the 01/01/2025 at midnight deadline will still be responsible for all class fees. No refunds will be provided, no charges removed after 01/01/2025 at midnight. 

Course withdrawals will be dealt with on a case by case basis.  

What Your Program Fees Will Cover

In addition to the academic credit you’ll receive from William & Mary for completing the D.C. Winter Seminars, your fees cover:

  • Faculty and staff salaries
  • Program meals during orientation session
  • A networking luncheon/dinner with D.C.-area alumni
Additional Student Spending

The average cost per student will vary. However, most students report spending roughly $150 per week on "groceries and other necessities" including transportation costs.  

Dropping/Withdrawing from Your Seminar

Your $500 deposit is completely non-refundable at any time. 

Housing fees are non-refundable at any time. 

Students who wish to drop the class have until the drop deadline on 01/01/2025 at midnight to do so. If students drop by this deadline, the course fee will be removed, but students will forfeit their previously paid $500 deposit.

Students who drop after the 01/01/2025 at midnight deadline will still be responsible for all class fees. No refunds will be provided, no charges removed after 01/01/2025 at midnight. 

  • In order to drop your D.C. Winter Seminars course, you will need to send an email from your W&M account to registrar@wm.edu, CCing Program Coordinator, [[ktwilson, Tyler Wilson]] , by 01/01/2025 at midnight.  No other communication will be considered a formal drop request. 
  • Students who want to withdraw from the course will be handled on a case by case basis.
  • In order to withdraw your DC Winter Seminars course, you will need to send an email from your W&M account to registrar@wm.edu, CCing Program Coordinator, [[ktwilson, Tyler Wilson]]. No other communication will be considered a formal withdraw request.  
Financial Aid

D.C. Winter Seminars courses are added to students' fall transcripts.  Therefore, students may be eligible for financial aid (student or parent loans) to help cover their costs. Contact your Financial Aid Counselor to check your eligibility.

Additionally, students can apply for scholarships provided through the Study in D.C. Scholarship Fund. Any Study in D.C. student is eligible to apply to receive funding through the Scholarship Fund. 

Virginia 529

The Virginia529 Prepaid plan only pays the full-time (or part-time for PT students) tuition charge on the student account.  It does not pay any individual course or program fees. 

If a family has one of the other Va529 programs (inVEST,  CollegeAmerica or CollegeWealth)  those funds may cover D.C. program fees depending on the individual program guidelines.  Questions regarding your plan may be obtained from the website www.virginia529.com or by calling toll free 888-567-0540.

Veterans Education Benefits
