Why Study Abroad and More Info
Why Study Abroad?
- Study Abroad programs can stimulate academic inquiry by promoting interdisciplinary learning, civic engagement, career development, cultural awareness, leadership, and other professional and intellectual skills.
- Study abroad programs have a variety of tailored goals to meet specific interests and objectives for students. Contact your global education advisor to help you find a program that aligns with your interests and goals.
- Study abroad provides opportunities which may allow you to (a) integrate classroom learning with real-life experience, (b) gain insight into potential careers, (c) challenge assumptions and promote self-reflection, (d) gain first-hand knowledge about your host location (e) network with future colleagues, and (f) gain self-confidence with respect to their knowledge, independence, flexibility and skillsets.
In order to make study abroad accessible to students, GEO annually awards more than $700,000 for study abroad scholarships. In addition, financial aid is generally portable. More information is at GEO’s website, and global education advisors are happy to assist in your search and application process.
