Sizemore Journalism Funds
Mason Sizemore graduated from William & Mary in 1963, where he was editor of the College's newspaper, The Flat Hat. Following his graduation from William & Mary, Mason went on 
to receive his graduate degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 1965 and his Master's of Business Administration from the University of Washington in 1985. From 1985-2001 Mason served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Seattle Times and has been active on a number of different Boards including The Seattle Times Communications Co., The Newspaper Association of American, Associated Press Managing Editors, The Allied Daily Newspapers of Washington, and The College of William & Mary Alumni Association.
After his retirement from the Seattle Times in 2002, Mason traveled the world with his wife Connie, enjoyed his granddaughter, and continued corporate-board service. Thanks to the generosity of Mason and Connie Sizemore, the College has created the Sizemore Journalism Travel Fund and the Sizemore Fellowship for Graduate Study in Journalism.
The Sizemore Journalism Travel Fund
Created in 2014, the income from this endowment is used to fund undergraduate student travel to conduct interviews and to meet other costs associated with research for journalism projects. While William & Mary does not have a degree program in journalism, there are a growing number of courses that provide students with opportunities to write for non-academic audiences. The Sizemore Fellowship for Graduate Study in Journalism
The Sizemore Fellowship for Graduate Study in Journalism was created through the generosity of Mason and Connie Sizemore to assist in the costs associated with graduate school. Applicants must be graduating seniors who plan to enroll in a graduate school of journalism in the fall immediately after graduation. Shannon Crawford was the last Sizemore Fellow selected to receive the $17,500 award to support her graduate study at the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism.
