Current Students
Financial aid eligibility is determined annually, and continuing students are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year to be considered for financial aid assistance. Annual submission of the FAFSA helps identify changes from the previous year that may impact your eligibility for financial assistance. Continuing students do not need to submit the CSS Profile. Virginia students who are non-immigrants, undocumented, have Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status or are otherwise ineligible to file the FAFSA can still pursue financial assistance from the state of Virginia through the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application.

Our priority deadlines ensure the timely determination of your financial aid eligibility. You can still submit an application after the deadline, but this may delay the process.

Withdrawal from W&M
Students withdrawing from all classes or below half-time and whose financial aid has not been confirmed will be responsible for all charges still owed to William & Mary. Financial Aid may not be disbursed if the student is no longer enrolled. Please review the withdrawal refund percentage schedule.
Please note that after July 1, 2026, a break in enrollment may affect your Federal Loan eligibility for student and/or parent borrowers. We have created a page to outline the impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Details and updates are made to this page as we have information.
Refund Policy
Refunds will be disbursed to your student account on the first day of class if all requirements for receiving these funds have been met.
