These are a few of our favorite things...

Ed Aractingi, IT

  • Robust mobile app – approve everything in one place, on the go!
  • Workday Mobile supports time and leave management, Finance and HCM approvals, and allows for custom alert settings per employee. After we implement the learning module, employees will be able to do training right in the app.
  • Adaptive Planning ability to budget multi-year

Mike Todd, Finance & Administration

  • I'm pleased this project is encouraging the university to reflect on our current business processes and consider how we can optimize with Workday.
  • The Workday Business Process Framework will give the university the opportunity to continue our digital transformation journey beyond go-live.

Marra Austin, Supply Chain

  • Small Purchase Charge Card reconciliation will be completed in the Expenses module directly. This will provide:
  • Appropriate sign off on the FDM regardless of where the cardholder is allocating (currently only allows for one approver per cardholder) - internal control benefit
  • Remove manual uploads for index adds and deletes (currently processed weekly) - efficiencies gain
  • Remove the need for approvers to log into a separate system to approve transactions - efficiencies gain

Abby Houser, Budget

  • Budget adjustments will be able to be initiated and completed directly in the system through a business process. This means:
  • No more emailing the Budget Office or doing a DocuSign form.
  • Some adjustments may be completed entirely by a department, creating efficiency and giving more control directly to fiscal managers.

Spencer Jenik, Budget

  • The wide range of financial tools
  • These capabilities will empower users throughout campus to have greater visibility and control over their financial resources and allow the institution to transition to a more strategic and forward-thinking mindset.

Barbara Forth, IT

  • Consistent business processes across the organization to support data governance goals and analytics.
  • We expect the faculty verification process to transition from several weeks to several days!

Pete Kellogg, IT

  • Streamlined orgs and roles, particularly as it will help manage our mandatory, annual information security training program.
  • After adopting the learning module in phase two, we’ll even deliver the training through Workday!

Tawanda Johnson, HR

  • Having one central system to handle a majority of the HCM needs
  • Because Workday's platform is so robust, we'll reduce our HCM system ecosystem significantly. PeopleAdmin Position Management and Applicant Tracking, and Cornerstone Learning and Performance Management, will retire. Additional new integrations will streamline other systems and processes, as well, to support benefits management, I9 verification, and background checks.

Melanie O'Dell, Finance

  • Manual journal entries will be initiated directly in Workday through a business process.  Approval routing will be a part of the process.
  • As soon as a document has been fully approved, it will automatically post in the system.  This eliminates the current integration that posts documents to Banner and BDM once every hour.
  • The need for a separate approval table maintained outside of the system (FINOPS) will be eliminated.

Andrew Crawford, IT

  • Streamlined Recruiting & Position Management
  • Position budgeting, position descriptions, applicant management and hiring is all part of Workday. No need for additional systems to support those tasks.

Corinne Picataggi, IT

  • No more paper timesheets.
  • Workday natively allows for editing timesheets from prior pay periods, and it adjusts benefits withholdings automatically. One of our most manual processes is immediately improved.
