The Five Graduate Schools

Arts & Science (A&S)

A&S is located on the main campus of William & Mary. There are a diverse set of programs under this school, offering Master's and Doctoral degrees to over 300 graduate students. Graduate students in A&S are represented on Graduate Council and Student Assembly through the Graduate Student Association for A&S (GSA), which sponsors social events and helps administer travel grants for conferences.


The Raymond A. Mason School of Business is the business school of the College of William & Mary in Virginia, USA. It was founded in 1968 and named after Raymond A. Mason, a prominent businessman and philanthropist who graduated from William & Mary in 1949.

The Mason School of Business offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business, including a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, a Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree, and a Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree. The school offers a variety of research centers and initiatives, including the Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance, the Entrepreneurship Center, and the Center for Corporate Responsibility.

The school has also been recognized by various publications and organizations for its programs, including being ranked among the top business schools in the United States by Bloomberg Businessweek, U.S. News & World Report, and the Financial Times.

W&M Law School has a rich history dating back to 1779, offering courses of study for the J.D., combination degrees and LL.M. in American Legal Studies. Our graduates go on enjoy careers throughout the United States and around the world with a wide range of employers. The Student Bar Association is the Law School's student government organization, organizing and conducting major social events, including the Fall Formal and Barrister's Ball (Spring Semester). 

School of Marine Science (SMS)

William & Mary’s School of Marine Science (SMS) is located about 30 minutes from the main campus in Williamsburg at Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), one of the largest marine science centers in the U.S. The SMS offers M.A., M.S., and Ph.D. programs across four academic departments—Biological Sciences, Aquatic Health Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Fisheries Science. The 90+ graduate students in the SMS study a wide range of subjects, including marine geology, physical oceanography, estuarine ecology, fisheries biology, environmental chemistry, marine policy, and more. The Graduate Community has a VIMS Graduate Student Association.
