Showcase Proposals
2026 Art & Science Exchange Showcase
The William & Mary Art & Science Exchange invites proposals for the 2026 Art & Science Exchange Showcase. This initiative supports interdisciplinary collaborations culminating in public-facing exhibitions, performances, workshops or presentations. Funded projects will provide students with personalized, transformative experiences that explore the intersection of the arts and sciences and stimulate new discoveries, concepts and perspectives. We encourage students, faculty and staff of the arts to engage with the sciences, and vice versa.
Eligibility & Team Composition
There is no limit to team size. However, each team must include:
- At least one faculty investigator from Area I (fine, visual or performing arts)
- At least one faculty investigator from Area II, III, the Batten School of Coastal & Marine Sciences & VIMS, or the School of Computing, Data Sciences & Physics
- One or more student investigators (undergraduate or graduate)
- If the student is a 1693, Monroe, Posse, Sharpe or WMSURE Scholar, please indicate this in your proposal.
Cross-school collaborations are highly encouraged but not required. Proposals that align with the university’s strategic priorities, including the Inclusive Excellence Framework, will receive priority consideration.
Presentation Requirements
On November 19, 2025, awarded teams will share student-focused summaries of their projects with the campus community, followed by a reception. Full presentations of their work will take place during the 2026 Art & Science Exchange Showcase, scheduled for March 23–27, 2026, in the Studio Theatre at Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall.
Funding
Up to four teams will each receive up to $20,000 to support their collaborative project. Funds may be used for personnel, supplies, travel or other state-approved expenses necessary for developing the final public presentation. All funds must be expended by April 30, 2026.
