Internships

Internships give you the chance to explore what your future career could look like before you commit to a specific path or company. At William & Mary, these hands-on experiences can help you test out industries, discover what excites you, build real-world skills that go far beyond the classroom and potentially earn academic credit. Along the way, you’ll grow your professional network, gain confidence and start to see how your coursework translates into a meaningful career.

Our students pursue internships across the globe and across disciplines — from clinical AI research with Boston Children’s Hospital to sustainable development in Bangkok, Thailand, curatorial work at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia, and economic analysis in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Qualified undergraduate students can receive up to $5,000 in funding for unpaid or underfunded student experiences (FUSE). Wherever your interests take you, internships help you turn curiosity into direction and momentum toward what’s next.

Hear from a Student

“During my study abroad experiences in both Argentina and Vietnam, I worked with underprivileged youth. Not only did I learn firsthand what it is like to work with human rights organizations, I gained confidence in my teamwork and communication skills. I also became more proficient in speaking Spanish and found a way to bridge the language barrier through singing and dancing.”

— Eva Jaber ’28, government and English double major from Chantilly, VA
