Entrepreneurship at W&M

Whether you're interested in launching a venture, leading an organization or driving change in your community, entrepreneurship at W&M will equip you to identify opportunities, navigate uncertainty and take action on meaningful challenges in any field.

Open to students from any major, W&M's Entrepreneurship Hub is the go-to place on campus to develop and test your next great idea. Students without a business idea — or any idea yet — are still encouraged to get involved. Come curious to explore what's possible.

There are dozens of different ways to engage with entrepreneurial thinking at W&M, including internships and externships with ventures, Rocket Pitch, seed funding, the Venture Challenge Sprint, micro-courses and mentor-supported programs. Students majoring in a business discipline may also add a concentration in innovation & entrepreneurship.

W&M Entrepreneurship Hub

The Entrepreneurship Hub gives innovative thinkers and leaders from across the university and Greater Williamsburg area a place to come together to learn, engage and bring great ideas to life — no business degree required. Located across the street from campus in Tribe Square, the Hub offers programming and resources for the full spectrum of entrepreneurial interests — serving those who are just curious to those who are scaling real ventures. The space has a startup feel and is used to host a variety of events like pitch competitions, hackathons and internships with alumni-led ventures.

Entrepreneurship is for Everyone

Think entrepreneurship is just for the business buffs or startup savants? Think again! Our Hub is for poets and programmers, historians and hackers, dreamers and doers alike. You don't need a business plan or even an idea to dive in. All you need is a spark of curiosity. So, whether you're from the arts, sciences, or just wandering the realms of possibility, the Hub is your space to explore, learn and grow. Everyone's welcome!

Taking Entrepreneurial Action

At the Hub, I have been many things. A patron, student partner and venture owner. My time at the Hub has given me a professional foundation in innovative thinking and networking through its events, workshops and excursions. It has allowed me to flourish in the entrepreneurial environment with my venture, and I will always be grateful for the experience!

The Hub was one of the factors why I chose to study at W&M. I was warmly welcomed at the Hub. The support and motivation were phenomenal. The Hub was my home, my office and my everything.

At first, I was under the impression that entrepreneurship was all luck based. I’ve discovered that there is a process for developing entrepreneurial thinking to work through all kinds of challenging ideas. What makes William & Mary so exceptional is that it gives students access to such a broad range of experiences that a lot of other schools don’t offer.
