Who Can Use the Health Center

All full-time fee paying students may utilize the health center regardless of whether you have the W&M-sponsored Insurance Plan or private health insurance.

Student Health Center Charges

There is an office visit charge, ranging from $20.00 to $100.00, which is assessed at the time of your visit. The charge is based on the length of time/complexity of care provided by our providers and/or nurse practitioners.

Payment for services is expected at the time of your appointment. We accept W&M Express, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express cards (no cash or checks). Payments not made by the end of the month at the Student Health Center must then be made at the Bursar's Office.

Missed Appointments

There is a charge for missed appointments and for late cancellation of appointments. If you are not able to keep your appointment, please call the Health Center as soon as possible (2 hours before general appointment, 24 hours before GYN or Physical Exam and some mental health appointments).

There is a fee of $1.00 per page associated with requests of copies of records. This does not include requests for immunization records.

Health Insurance

Please bring your insurance card with you to your health center appointment to ensure that we have the correct information to pass on in case outside  service (i.e. outside lab testing, x-ray, referral to a specialist, etc.) is necessary. We will provide the student with a detailed, itemized receipt for Student Health Center charges for your reimbursement purposes. The Student Health Center does not accept any private health insurance plans nor do the medical providers participate with any insurance networks or groups. Please note, your private health insurance will likely process your request for reimbursement of SHC charges as an out-of-network claim.
