Fees & Charges

Student Health Center Fee

As part of your tuition and fees, all full-time students pay a Student Health Center fee and are therefore eligible to access services at the health center during the fall and spring semester. The Student Health Center Fee for the summer sessions is optional; you must pay it separately to use the Student Health Center over the summer. This fee is $20 per 7-day period.

All full-time fee-paying students may utilize the health center regardless of whether they have the W&M-sponsored Insurance Plan or private health insurance.

Student Health Center Charges

Payment for service is expected at the time of your appointment. We accept W&M Express, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express cards (no cash or checks). Payments not made by the end of the month at the Student Health Center must then be made at the Bursar's Office.

The cost for healthcare at the Student Health Center is relatively low as compared to the private health market. There are charges associated with the following services*:

Health Insurance

Please bring your insurance card with you to your health center appointment to ensure that we have the correct information to pass on in case outside service (i.e. outside lab testing, x-ray, referral to a specialist, etc.) is necessary. The Student Health Center does not accept any private health insurance plans nor do the medical providers participate with any insurance networks or groups. We will provide a detailed, itemized receipt for possible reimbursement upon request. Please note, your private health insurance will likely process your request for reimbursement of SHC charges as an out-of-network claim.
