New Employee Orientations
We offer three opportunities for new employees to integrate within the university:
Benefits Orientation
Our Benefits Specialists present health insurance, life insurance, and leave information during Benefits Orientation, which are scheduled twice a month. Benefits Orientation is currently conducted virtually via Zoom (Meeting link) for all benefit-eligible employees. Prior to the orientation date, you will receive an invitation from UHR along with important information about your benefits. If you have any questions, please contact AskHR@wm.edu.
The orientation will also explain deadlines and other key dates. As a reminder, you have 30 days from your hire date to complete certain benefit forms and submit them to University Human Resources.
All Benefits Orientations are held from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Find your Benefits Orientation date below.

Welcome Incoming Fall Faculty!
A separate benefits orientation will be held in August 2024 from 10:00am - noon for new 9, 10 & 12- month faculty team members. Information on health insurance, life insurance, leave, retirement plans and more will be presented via Zoom (Meeting link). Beginning August 1, an invitation to the Zoom meeting along with important information about benefits will be emailed directly to all benefits-eligible new faculty.

University Orientation
As the second-oldest university in the nation, the university cultivates a communal environment that we are excited to have you join. At your University Orientation, you will hear from a variety of speakers who will inform you of the many resources and opportunities available as an employee. You will learn the rich and unique history of the university and get a chance to network with other new colleagues.
The virtual sessions via Zoom (Meeting link) are scheduled usually on the third Wednesday of every month, except May & December (second Wednesday). An agenda will be included in the email invitation sent out a week prior to each session.

Campus Tours
UHR also hosts a walking tour of campus. We recommend wearing clothing appropriate for the outside weather and comfortable shoes. All campus tours are held on Fridays from 8:15 - 11:45 a.m. Find your 2024 campus tour date below.
An email invitation is sent out a week before each tour to confirm participation.
The tour starts at the Bee McLeod Recreation Center and ends at the Commons Dining Hall. Feel free to stay and purchase lunch at the dining hall afterwards.
