New Employee Orientations
We offer three opportunities for new employees to integrate within the university:
Benefits Orientation
Our Benefits Specialists present health insurance, life insurance, and leave information during Benefits Orientation, which are scheduled twice a month. Benefits Orientation is currently conducted virtually via Zoom (Meeting link) for all benefit-eligible employees. Prior to the orientation date, you will receive an invitation from UHR along with important information about your benefits.
The orientation will also explain deadlines and other key dates. As a reminder, you have 30 days from your hire date to complete certain benefit forms and submit them to University Human Resources.

University Orientation
As the second-oldest university in the nation, the university cultivates a communal environment that we are excited to have you join. At your University Orientation, you will hear from a variety of speakers who will inform you of the many resources and opportunities available as an employee. You will learn the rich and unique history of the university and get a chance to network with other new colleagues.
The virtual sessions via Zoom (Meeting link) are scheduled on the third Wednesday of every month, except May & December (second Wednesday). An agenda will be included in the email invitation sent out a week prior to each session.

Campus Tours
UHR also hosts a walking tour of campus. This occurs on Friday, the same week as the University Orientation. We meet and start the tour at the Swem Library entrance. An email invitation is sent out a week before each tour to confirm participation. In the event of inclement weather, the following Friday serves as the alternate date and announcements will be sent the day prior if this date needs to be utilized.
