The New Student Move-In process is one of the most highly-orchestrated events during William & Mary's academic year. Every residence hall will be assigned a color-coded and/or named route to be followed as exactly as possible.
Packing for Your Move-In
In general, pack the essentials and slowly expand into optional items from there. And remember ... what gets moved into your residence hall room will eventually have to be moved out!
A recommended packing list will be available by May 31.
Move-In Dates
Residential new students will schedule an individual appointment to check into their residence hall assignment via our drive-through, contactless process. These appointments will occur just prior to the start of New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 24.
Appointment instructions will be released by Residence Life via your W&M email by mid-July.
Continuing William & Mary students should plan to to make their residence hall check-in appointments per the upper-level move-in student schedule.

Loading Zone Restrictions/Limitations
Please note that because of congested traffic and limited space, the following loading zone restrictions will be enforced during all move-in time periods:
- No oversized vehicles (trailers, box trucks, etc.) are allowed
- Only one vehicle per student allowed at any one point time
