LSO: The Conservation, Food & Health Foundation
The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation seeks to protect the environment, improve food production, and promote public health in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. The Foundation funds applied research, pilot projects, new initiatives, training, and technical assistance, rather than ongoing support for programs that are already well underway. An important goal for the Foundation is to provide seed money to help promising projects, organizations, and individuals develop the track record they need to attract major foundation funding in the future.

Internal Competition: Fund for Excellence and Innovation (FFEI)-Expanding Student Pathways or Communities of Practice in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Grants
The Fund for Excellence and Innovation (FFEI) was established during the 2016 legislative session to focus on two primary activities: stimulate collaborations among public school divisions, community colleges and universities and to expand affordable student pathways; and pursue shared services and other efficiency initiatives at colleges and universities that lead to measurable cost reductions.

Safety, Security, and Privacy of Open-Source Ecosystems (Safe-OSE)
To respond to the growing threats to the safety, security, and privacy of open-source ecosystems (OSEs), NSF is launching the Safety, Security, and Privacy for Open-Source Ecosystems (Safe-OSE) program. This program solicits proposals from OSEs, including those not originally funded by NSF's Pathways to Enable Open-Source Ecosystems (POSE) program, to address significant safety, security, and/or privacy vulnerabilities, both technical (e.g., vulnerabilities in code and side-channels) and socio-technical (e.g., supply chain, insider threats, and social engineering). Interested applicants should submit the following list of materials via Box (see full announcement) by December 1, 2025. NASA Software Catalog Puts Agency Solutions at Innovators’ Fingertips
NASA’s latest open Software Catalog, released Wednesday, offers more than 1,200 downloadable codes developed by agency engineers that could enable faster solutions to energize the space economy and stimulate American ingenuity. The catalog is part of NASA’s effort to place advanced technologies, including agency software, into the hands of businesses, researchers, and entrepreneurs to foster economic growth and innovation.

Changes to Uniform Guidance 2CFR200 (Effective October 1, 2024)
In response to the implementation of OMB’s October 1, 2024, revision (“2024 Revisions”) to the OMB Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance; Final Rule – Title 2 of the CFR, the Office of Sponsored Programs has compiled a high-level summary of key revisions and their implementation to keep our research community informed and engaged.

SPARCS Human Ethics Launch
During the week of December 9th, W&M will be restricting access to "read-only" for the compliance.wm.edu and be moving to a new system, SPARCS, for protocol management. To prepare for the launch, the Research Compliance office will be hosting training sessions for faculty/staff who will be using this platform to submit IRB protocol proposals.
