Procedures
Procurement of technology software and hardware: Information Technology shall review all software and hardware purchases for accessibility in alignment with the most current W3C WC. This review process is part of IT’s approval process for purchases. All software vendors must provide a VPAT compliance report as part of this process. In the event that a VPAT is not available, the university will request that the vendor complete one prior to purchase approval. If there are deficiencies in the VPAT assessment, IT will coordinate with the appropriate offices to identify an alternative means of providing a similar experience for individuals with accessibility needs.
Requesting ADA Accommodations: IT supports requests from Human Resources and Student Accessibility Services. SAS and HR are the offices that can approve accommodation needs. IT partners with these offices to ensure the technology selected for accommodation purposes is supported and functional. IT cannot approve assistive technologies. Please refer to the appropriate office.
Computer Accessibility Features
All William & Mary-managed computers, including podium and public-access computer lab machines, shall have built-in accessibility features enabled and available to all users.
