Exploring Leadership Series

Program Mission 

To support leadership development, to expand individual leadership abilities both in current roles, to prepare for future leadership opportunities, and to advance William & Mary’s strategic objectives. While this program is designed with women in mind, all are welcome to register.  

Format 

  • Maximum 25 participants per cohort 
  • 3-hour sessions in Spring 2026 
    -Includes an overview of a topic, review of information
    -Active learning application

    eflective journal prompt 
  • Conversational, small-group check-ins 
  • Ready to apply session takeaways 
  • Practice activities between sessions

  • Wednesday, January 14, 9 a.m. - noon 
  • Wednesday, February 11, 9 a.m. - noon 
  • Tuesday, March 3, 9 a.m. - noon 
  • Wednesday, March 25, 9 a.m. - noon 
  • Wednesday, April 15, 9 a.m. - noon 

Tentative Session Topics 

The sessions outlined below provide foundational leadership development information and cover skill sets that all leaders require in their work. The learning outcomes of the series include learning more about individual approaches to leadership, further development of leadership skills, and building a network of support for leaders on campus. 

Leadership 101 

  • Program orientation and introduction 
  • Exploring leadership theories and frame approaches 

Conflict and Communication 

  • Exploration of conflict resolution and the ombuds process 
  • Voices from the field: leadership panel to review personal experiences with conflict 

Leadership and Wellness 

  • Building of an individualized wellness wheel 
  • Exploration of how individual wellness contributes to leadership 

Reflective Leadership—Culminating Workshop 

  • The role of reflection in leading 
  • Planning forward for professional development and mentoring.
