Visiting the Center

A little inside information goes a long way!

The Carnegie building space has closed and our new space in the D.C. Bar Building is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2022. The new location is located at 901 4th St. NW in Washington, D.C. Center classes and events will take place elsewhere in that building while W&M’s new facility is renovated.

Visiting the William & Mary Washington Center conveys a shared expectation of abiding by both William & Mary and D.C. Bar building policies, which are subject to change as conditions warrant.

William & Mary’s requirements currently include masking indoors; masking outdoors is encouraged when unable to maintain social distancing. Drinking and eating are allowed indoors, but if engaging in socializing before and after actively eating or drinking, masking is required.

In addition, the D.C. Bar building requires proof of vaccination by uploading your vaccination card to the ReturnSafe app at least 72 hours prior to an event or meeting. On the
morning of your visit, we ask that you please use the app to check in and answer the health questionnaire. Further instruction on how to access the ReturnSafe app and complete all procedures can be found at this link.

These expectations are in keeping with William & Mary’s core values of Belonging within this community and Respect for one another as individuals, and in recognition of the risks inherent to gathering amid pandemic.

Visitors should also consider some precautions:
  • Forego attending events/meetings if you’re feeling sick.
  • Maintain proper use of masks, replacing your mask promptly after eating and drinking.
  • Full vaccination is in the best interest of the health of the W&M community. William & Mary is requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all students, faculty and staff, unless an express medical or religious exemption applies. We encourage our guests to do the same.
