Youth Protection
The safety and security of the William & Mary campus population, including visitors, is of paramount importance to the university. The university emphasizes the importance of the safety and protection of Minors who participate in University, Affiliated and Non-Affiliated programs offered on campus through university policy and procedures. Faculty, staff and recognized student organizations that offer camps, clinics, internships, mentorship, or other programs that involve minors are responsible for being familiar with the policies and complying with best practices to ensure the protection of youth in our community.
The Office of Compliance & Equity supports this goal by serving as the central resource and oversight for all university-related programs and activities on university property or in university facilities that involve minor participants. Ensuring the protection of youth on campus is a shared responsibility of all departments and individuals who host minors in their programs. Program Supervisors are required to review the policy and follow the best practices on an annual basis to help facilitate a positive experience for participants in their programs.
