Seas & Sonnets

Seas

Since I was in preschool, going to the beach has been one of my favorite things to do. Over time, it instilled in me a fascination with the ocean, especially the physics behind it. Here at William & Mary, I've had the unique opportunity to self-design my Oceanography major. I designed my major to include some interesting technical classes, as well as electives concerning climate change and sustainability. This major has led me to many diverse experiences, from working in labs both here at VIMS and at the Center For Coastal Studies in Provincetown, MA. One of my main goals is to better understand what's in store for our oceans and how to preserve them.

Sonnets
In high school, writing poetry was an essential outlet for my self expression, and gave me a sense of connectivity to both myself and the natural world. I've written poetry in a variety of styles about anything that moves me, and it has led me to some really incredible opportunities. I've participated in AMP's poetry slams, been published in The Gallery, and the Sucarnochee Review, which is a national undergraduate literature publication. I also post my writing on an Instagram account called Blue Sand Poetry. Writing has the unique ability to move and inspire others, and I hope I can impact my readers as I feel writing has impacted me.
