Biennial Ferguson Blair Publishing Seminar (every other year)

This seminar is a chance for students to learn about publishing first-hand and take advantage of this opportunity to network with outstanding professionals in the field. A mix of topical professional panels and networking opportunities, the Publishing Seminar is available to all class years and majors. The next Publishing Seminar will take place in Fall 2024.

Computer Science Night 

Whether you are a current computer science major or considering computer science as a major, this program is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable advice and perspective from professionals in the field. A panel of William & Mary CS alumni discuss their education and career paths, trends and opportunities in the field, and what qualities employers look for in candidates. There is also an informal networking session with the panelists.

From DoG Street 2 Wall Street

This annual event, consisting of panel events and networking, features alumni working in financial services. It is a fit for any student interested in working in finance. The event typically takes place at the Mason School of Business and is co-sponsored by the Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance.

Science Career Expo

This event brings together organizations from various sectors in the sciences. Students can connect with representatives and learn about different science career paths and opportunities. Highlighted sectors include biomedical, science communications, environmental, engineering, and museums, zoos and aquariums.

Winter and/or Summer Breaks
Case Study Workshop Series

In collaboration with the Consulting Club, this workshop series offers students the chance to learn about and prepare for case style interviews from William & Mary professionals and alumni working in the field. The weekly workshop series typically runs for 4-6 weeks.

Etiquette Events 

A great opportunity for students to polish their etiquette skills, so they can put their best foot forward in varied business and social situations.

Spring
William & Mary Professional Development Week

This annual series brings William & Mary community members together to advance their career development. Participants include current undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and partners of the university. Topics and speakers change each year based on audience interest and current trends. The full week consists of a variety of in-person and virtual networking, as well as virtual workshops, speakers, and panels to reach the Tribe around the world. This opportunity is open to all class years and you can participate multiple times to gain new skills, perspectives, and connections each time.

Year-Round
Career Readiness Foundations

A self-paced, virtual program for current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, to support their professional development preparation. Participants will learn about the following topics through Blackboard: resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and LinkedIn. The four-week program is designed for participants to focus on one topic per week and receive feedback on drafts submitted.
