Fall 2026 - Applications for Freshman and Sophomore Parking Exceptions to Policy
Summary
Updated Tuesday Jun 23rd, 2026: The application window for Requests for Exception to Parking Policy for the Fall 2026 term will open on Jul 1st.
Full Description
The Fall 2026 Application for Exceptions to Parking Policy window will open at midnight on Jul 1st, 2026.
This year ALL applications will be online submittals. We are stepping away from MS Word and Adobe pdf forms that need to be attached to emails and processed manually. Instead, the Priority 2 PT Work and Priority 4 (all Others) Generic applications will be online submissions that will Auto generate the needed time stamps for the submissions to be reviewed accordingly by the Admin Review Officers or Appeals Committee.
- Priority 1 - Medical requests will continue to go through Student Accessibility Services using the approved Part A & B medical forms listed on their website.
- Priority 3 - Volunteer Service requests will continue to be managed by the Office of Community Engagement via their online form.
Please ensure your application is submitted on or shortly after Jul 1. Not all the students who apply will be approved. On average we receive anywhere between 125-150 more applications for parking than we have spaces to allocate, so it is a very competitive process. We do our best to fulfill as many as we can. The online forms are timed and will not begin accepting entries until midnight on July 1st.
- Priority 2 - Application for Exception to Policy - Part-time Employment
- Priority 4 - Application for Exception to Policy - Generic Request
Exceptions grant parking privileges where they otherwise do not exist. An exception does not grant open use of on campus parking. If approved, you will receive one parking assignment and will need to manage transportation within campus by alternative means. Make sure you include your physical on campus residence hall on the application, not your campus mailing address.
The Rules:
To have a car on campus as a freshman or sophomore, and transfer for 1st semester on campus, the registered student must meet one of the three approved reasons and apply for an exception to policy.
Priority Order
- Medical Necessity - Submit online form to Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
- Off-Campus Part-time work - 10 Hrs or more per week. Submit to Parking Services (P&T) via online form using above link
- Approved Volunteer Service - 10 Hrs or more per week. Submit online MS Forms form to Office of Civic & Community Engagement (CCE)
- All Others - Submit "Generic" form with full justification. Please include information concerning the degree of need, items such as frequency, and duration of the trips, distance to and from your destinations relative to campus. Do not include any specific medically diagnostic information for you or any of your family members. Application is reviewed and approved by Parking Services.
All application forms are posted for download on our Forms and Documents site
NOTE: Out of state students, keep in mind that is not a qualifier alone and is not sufficient grounds for an exception. If you must have your car in town, we may be able to allocate you a space in Long Term Storage, but on campus space is not available.
Visit our Restricted Use Decals website for more information. Applications are reviewed by priority and then in the order they were received.
The review can take days to a few weeks depending on the volume of requests received. Lower Priority 2-4 requests cannot be processed ahead of Priority 1 - Medical requests. Then if approved you will receive notice and directions via e-mail advising you how to access the T2 Parking portal to complete the purchase of your decal.
Do not visit the T2 Parking portal before you have been approved, an override is required to facilitate the purchase. Decals purchased prior to approval will be canceled not distributed.
All applications are online so don't delay your submission by sending email requests. Allow 2-3 weeks for review and approval. Space is limited and demand is high so send you application as soon as able after Jul 1. You are not allowed to register or park a vehicle on campus until after your application is approved and you have completed the purchase of the 2026-27 decal.
Please don't hesitate to contact Parking Services via e-mail at parked@wm.edu should you have any questions or concerns about the process or issues with the online forms.
