Committee Composition
The Committee for Academic Culture & Values consiss of the following voting members:
- Six elected members of the faculty, at least three of whom are tenured or tenure eligible and at least two of whom are teaching faculty;
- One staff member, appointed by the Dean;
- One graduate student, nominated by the Graduate Student Association; and
- One undergraduate student, nominated by Student Assembly.
One of the faculty elections will be specifically designated for the Faculty Fellow. The Senior Associate Dean for Academic Culture & Faculty Development will serve as a voting ex officio member. Each student serves a one-year term, and faculty serve a three-year term.
CACV Faculty Fellow for Academic Culture & Student Success
The role of the CAVC faculty fellow will be to advance key objectives and critical initiatives to support student success. The fellow will facilitate student success in A&S, with a focus on supporting pedagogical initiatives that promote student belonging in the learning environment, the success of all students, and the education and development of resources for faculty and staff. The faculty fellow will collaborate with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies & Chief Transfer Officer, Assistant Director of Arts & Sciences Graduate Studies, and Director of the Student Center for Inclusive Excellence to assess and promote undergraduate and graduate student success and belonging in the learning environment. The fellow position is part-time as an academic year appointment so that one can continue to teach and engage in scholarship; it is open to teaching and tenured faculty who have attained the rank of associate professor or higher. The fellow will serve a term of up to two years and will receive one course release per year as well as a stipend.
