General Event Questions
What is the difference between Day for Admitted Students (DFAS) and Green & Gold Days?Day for Admitted Students is an exciting, day-long event where you'll learn more about the people and programs at William & Mary. The day is full of activities and opportunities to connect. Sessions span campuswide, so be prepared to get your steps in! If you prefer a more relaxed visit, Green & Gold Days are a great option. These smaller events occur primarily within Sadler, our student center, and offer a more personal experience. |
If I get to DFAS late, how do I check in?Late check-in is available at the Office of Undergraduate Admission located at 116 Jamestown Rd. |
Do we need to stay for the entire day?Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to stay the entire day. Please refer to the Day for Admitted Students schedule to plan your day. |
What time does the event begin and end?Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. and the Opening Welcome will kick off the day at 9:30 a.m. in Kaplan Arena. We recommend that you allow plenty of time to park and walk to Kaplan Arena. The final activities of the day are the Green & Gold Student Social and the Parent & Family Social, from 3–4 p.m. at Zable Stadium. Download the W&M Mobile app to manage your schedule and view a map of campus. |
Is the event rain or shine?Day for Admitted Students will happen rain or shine! In the event of inclement weather, we will have a rain plan, but please come prepared to walk between venues. The rain plan schedule will be posted on the W&M Mobile app. Be sure to pack both a raincoat and sunscreen as coastal Virginia can be unpredictable in the spring! |
Are sessions recorded or available later online?Unfortunately, sessions are not recorded. If you are unable to attend Day for Admitted Students, you can consider attending a Green & Gold Day. |
What safety measures are in place for the event? The university adheres to a strict clear bag policy for large events, including Day for Admitted Students. We will also be using metal detectors at Kaplan Arena. If you see something, say something. Event security will be provided by RMC Events. University Police can be reached at 757-221-4596 for non-emergencies and 911 (on campus) for emergencies. |
Will William & Mary be taking photos or video during the day?Yes, Day for Admitted Students is an exciting day filled with W&M spirit, and the university will be taking photos and video throughout the day. Watch your email for a recap video after the event. |
Is there a recommended dress code?We recommend casual clothes for the event, including comfortable shoes you can walk in throughout the day (and bring a water bottle). The weather in coastal Virginia can be unpredictable in the spring, so bring a hat or sunglasses, a raincoat and a light jacket as mornings and indoor sessions can be chilly. |
Accessibility & Accommodations
How can I convey any accessibility needs? You can request accommodations when you register for Day for Admitted Students. After submitting an accommodation request, a member of our staff will contact you. Examples of accommodations include dietary accommodations, sign language interpretation and mobility accommodations such as no-stairs walking routes. Accessible parking is noted on the accessible parking map. Each session will have a designated area for accessible seating near the front of the room. |
How far in advance should accommodation requests be submitted? Please submit all accommodation requests by Monday, April 6. |
How far is the walking distance between sessions? Will there be mobility assistance (e.g., golf carts, shuttles) throughout the day?Attendees should plan for a substantial day of walking.
