Pell Grant Guarantee

100% tuition and fees covered for eligible Virginia students

William & Mary is committed to affording exceptional Virginia students the opportunity to attend the university. There are many ways you can get help paying for college, and a federal Pell Grant plus the W&M Pell Grant Guarantee are available to qualifying families with limited income. This grant does not need to be paid back and can help eligible limited-income students pay for college costs, including tuition, fees, food, housing and other educational expenses.

Who is eligible?

According to Department of Education data, over 93% of Pell Grant recipients come from families earning less than $60,000 per year. Nearly half of all first-generation college students receive Pell Grants.

How do I apply?

Pell Grant eligibility is determined from the information that is reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To be considered for W&M institutional aid, first-year and transfer students are required to submit the CSS Profile. The maximum Pell Grant award is $7,395 for the 2023-24 award year (July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024), in addition to funding assistance provided by W&M.
