Accessibility

Individuals who have accessible tags must also display a William & Mary parking permit or a temporary pass to park anywhere on campus, except in metered or timed spaces which are otherwise paid or timed. Individuals displaying accessible tags shall be allowed to park for up to four (4) hours in metered or timed spaces and are exempted from paying parking meter fees during the four (4) hour window. The display of an accessible tag does not authorize anyone to park in spaces that are reserved at all times, designated as service vehicle spaces, or assigned and reserved as part of a special event.

Parking ADA Placard Disclosure Assessment

If you have a state DMV issued ADA placard or permanent Disabled license plate please notify Parking Services so that we can update your parking record accordingly. This helps us with assessing the demand for these parking spaces on campus. Our goal is to ensure we keep up with the demand and that spaces are compliant with ADA prerequisites. The easiest way to capture this information is by voluntary self identification. You can email us at parked@wm.edu with Subject "ADA Placard Disclosure" followed by your Banner # (93...) In the body include the Placard type, placard #, date of issue and expiration. In turn we will add this information to the appropriate section of the vehicle registration and current W&M decal.

Accessible Bus Service

Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) provides fully accessible buses on their fixed-routes for all customers. Their buses have the ability to kneel to the ground, making the first step easier and safer to use. Integrated wheelchair ramps are also available in the entryway to provide disabled passengers with a smooth transition into the bus and a flat floor to their seats. Up to two wheelchairs may be properly secured on board the bus for a safe ride.
