W&M prepares for Workday training rollout

In a bid to ensure that employees are well-prepared for the upcoming transition to Workday, the Workday Change Management team has unveiled a comprehensive training rollout plan that promises to be both timely and engaging. Training will begin rolling out in mid-May and will continue throughout June and after the go-live date of July 1, 2025.

Here's what you need to know about the plan:

Just In Time (JIT) Training

Adopting a strategy known as "Just In Time" training, the team aims to deliver training sessions close to the go-live date (July 1, 2025), ensuring that the information is both relevant and easily retained by participants. This approach is designed to maximize the effectiveness of the training and to help employees feel confident and competent as they begin using Workday.

Extensive Resources

The training team is hard at work developing more than 80 job aids that will be housed in a centralized online resource library. These aids are designed to provide concise, practical guidance on a variety of tasks and processes within Workday. In addition to job aids, the training plan includes a range of micro-learning videos, webinars, and in-person sessions.

Ongoing Training and Support

Employees are not expected to master Workday on day one. The training plan emphasizes that learning will be an ongoing process, with continuous training opportunities available after the system goes live. This spring, employees are encouraged to focus on mastering the tasks they perform most frequently, laying a solid foundation for future learning.

Support Structure

Understanding that questions and challenges will arise as employees begin to use Workday, the team is also developing a robust support structure. This will ensure that employees know where to turn for assistance and guidance, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment throughout the transition.
With such a detailed and thoughtfully designed training plan in place, employees can look forward to a smooth and confident transition to Workday. The emphasis on relevance, retention, and ongoing support ensures that everyone will have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Stay tuned for more updates as the rollout begins!
