Programs & Events

Speaker Series, Panel Discussions and Symposia

The Center will sponsor and co-sponsor an exciting range of programs throughout the year. We will invite subject-matter experts, lawmakers, and activists to inform us and participate in dialogue with us. Our goal is to engage the William & Mary community — students, faculty, administrators and staff — in conversations about social justice-related issues. Importantly, we will also announce our programs to our neighbors off campus — particularly in Williamsburg, Hampton Roads and the Commonwealth — and invite them to join us in these conversations.

Speaker Series & Panel Discussions

These virtual events will bring experts to provide information and their insights into current, frequently challenging topics not always addressed in the classroom. We structure the events to allow speakers to engage with participants in informal hour-long discussions.

Symposia

Our symposia allow for more in-depth exploration of issues. Because these too will take place virtually this academic year, their format will vary somewhat from typical symposia. Instead of an unbroken series of panels and talks taking place in the span of a single day, these programs will comprise individual panels spread across a number of days.
