Whole of Government Affiliates

WGC Affiliates are integral to our mission, participating in a range of activities including:

• Training & Education: Affiliates engage with William & Mary students and faculty, offering lectures, seminars, and mentorship to help shape the next generation of leaders.
• Research & Collaboration: Affiliates collaborate on research projects addressing cybersecurity, mass violence, and other critical issues, often leading to innovative and creative solutions.
• Public Engagement: Affiliates represent the WGC at symposia, discussions, and public events, sharing their expertise and advancing the conversation on national and international security.

• Resource Access: Affiliates gain access to William & Mary’s extensive resources, including email, library services, and operational support for research and external grants.
• Student Support: The WGC assists Affiliates in recruiting and engaging high-quality students to support their work.
• Amplified Impact: Affiliates' work is highlighted through WGC’s communication channels and events, providing a platform to reach a broader audience.
• Collaborative Network: Affiliates are connected with potential research, funding, and communication partners to enhance their projects and initiatives.

How to Become an Affiliate:

To become a WGC Affiliate, professionals must demonstrate a commitment to interagency collaboration and public service. Affiliates are appointed for a one-year term, with the possibility of renewal. During their term, Affiliates are expected to:

• Publicly list their WGC affiliation in their professional profiles and publications.
• Participate in or lead at least two WGC events annually.
• Provide feedback to WGC students and instructors on relevant projects.
• Complete an annual survey or interview regarding their work with the WGC.
