Temporary Impairments

Temporary impairments can make full academic and campus life participation a challenge. We work with individual students to devise solutions for meeting their academic and daily demands. Timely student contact is essential and, in many cases, planning is crucial. Temporary impairments may include the following:

  • Concussions
  • Injuries

Though certainly not exhaustive, the following accommodations are helpful to students struggling with temporary impairments:

  • Assistive technology for note taking assistance
  • Use of a computer to complete tests or quizzes or the ability to take exams on paper
  • Temporary accessible parking
  • Restricted parking for medical reasons
  • Reasonable extensions of time to complete tests, quizzes, or other class assignments
  • Limited Mobility Shuttle Service (LMSS)

Students requesting accommodations for temporary impairments may register with Student Accessibility Services using Accommodate.
