Give to Student Affairs
Why Private Support Matters
At William & Mary, we know learning happens everywhere, not just in classrooms and labs. Learning takes place across the student experience – in residence halls, in student organizations, and in moments of meaningful connection that shape a student’s sense of purpose and belonging. At W&M, learning and living go hand in hand, and both thrive on our campus!
Students are at the heart of everything we do in Student Affairs, and what we do touches the life of every W&M student. Through a wide range of programs and services, we support students’ learning, promote their success and encourage their personal growth. Students who connect with student affairs develop leadership skills, find a sense of community and belonging, explore ways to serve others, try activities that are new, and learn what wellness looks like for them. They learn that they’re never alone in facing difficult days, that their success is our success, and that someone is always in their corner. Through their day-to-day experiences at W&M, our students develop deep friendships, achieve and celebrate milestones, and they have fun! We in Student Affairs are champions of the student experience, and we understand what a privilege it is to walk alongside our students on their path to becoming.
Private support makes all this possible. In the past, the generosity of private donors has allowed us to do things like:
- Expand access to mental health services and make wellness courses free for all
- Provide emergency and basic needs support for students facing difficult and unexpected life situations
- Cover the cost of tutoring services for all students—breaking down barriers so every student has the support they need to achieve their academic goals
These programs can be lifelines, as they uplift and sustain every student. They affirm for students that we are here for their success – both personal and academic.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more. I hope you will consider investing in the heart of the William & Mary experience with a gift to Student Affairs.
Warmly,
